  1. On an ordinary two-wheel motorcycle in Georgia, a licensed adult plans a short ride on local public streets. Which helmet choice meets Georgia's requirement?

Correct answer: Wear a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet for the ride.

DDS states that Georgia requires a DOT-compliant helmet. An adult license, a short trip or use of local public streets does not remove that requirement; a bicycle or noncompliant novelty helmet does not meet it.

Source: Georgia DDS, Section 3: Before You Ride, 3.1 Selecting and Wearing Protective Gear → Helmet Use, Georgia DOT-compliant helmet requirement; Helmet Selection, DOT compliance. Current official HTML body read September 29, 2026; no PDF page inferred. ↗

  2. In ordinary civilian riding, a Georgia motorcyclist approaches two rows of cars stopped in traffic. May the rider move forward between the rows?

Correct answer: No; Georgia prohibits riding between lanes or rows of traffic.

Georgia DDS explicitly says lane splitting is illegal, including when traffic is stopped. Low speed, stopped cars or signaling does not authorize this ordinary rider to travel between the rows. Wait in the traffic lane instead.

Source: Georgia DDS, Get Road Ready: Motorcycle Safety and Maintenance Tips for Georgia’s Extended Riding Season, March 9, 2026; final rider-readiness paragraph after the T-CLOCS checklist, lane splitting between lanes or rows and stopped traffic; agency cites O.C.G.A. 40-6-312. Full official release body read September 29, 2026. ↗
