Georgia · 20-question sample · Mark one correct answer for each question.

  1. 1. A — You must yield to the car on your right

At an uncontrolled intersection, a simultaneous arrival is resolved by yielding to the vehicle on the right. Do not use vehicle size or road width to decide who goes first.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 17 (physical 18), Laws Governing Right-of-Way / uncontrolled intersections. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/section-5-continued. · page 18

  2. 2. D — Slow, move safely to the right shoulder, and stop

Yield to the approaching ambulance, move safely as close as possible to the right edge, and stop clear of intersections. Remain stopped until it passes unless a law enforcement officer directs otherwise. The scenario provides a safe right shoulder.

    Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 17 (physical 18), moving emergency vehicles. Current law corroboration: 2026 Act 640 / HB 1161, Section 1, O.C.G.A. 40-6-74(a), physical/printed page 2; Section 8(a), page 8, effective July 1, 2026. https://gov.georgia.gov/document/2026-signed-legislation/hb-1161/download#page=2. Ambulance-yield scenario, not the separate traffic-stop provision of subsection (b). Reviewed September 13, 2026. · page 18

  3. 3. A — Remain stopped until the child is clear and it is safe

The children must be clear of the roadway as well as the bus's signal or movement condition being satisfied. The end of the warning signals is not permission to drive into a child's path.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 9, printed 44 (physical 45), Sharing the Road With School Buses / remaining stopped. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/press-releases/2025-08-05/practice-back-school-safety. · page 45

  4. 4. D — Adjust your speed and position to enter the gap safely

DDS advises adjusting speed and position for a safe merge. Choose usable space in the traffic flow instead of assuming nearby drivers must make room for your car.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 17 (physical 18), Laws Governing Right-of-Way / merging into other traffic. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/section-5-continued. · page 18

  5. 5. A — No, the blocked view makes this an unsuitable place for a U-turn

Do not make a U-turn near the top of a hill when approaching drivers cannot see you. The absence of a no-U-turn sign does not remove this visibility restriction.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 20 (physical 21), U-Turns / visibility near hilltops. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/section-5-turning-signals-parallel-parking. · page 21

  6. 6. A — Low beams, with speed reduced for the visibility.

Use low beams and reduce speed in fog. High beams can reflect glare back at you and make it harder to see the road.

    Source: Georgia DDS Driver's Manual 2023-2024, printed p. 38: Section 8, Fog · page 39

  7. 7. D — Jerking the steering wheel to get back immediately.

Do not yank the vehicle back onto the pavement. Hold the wheel securely, reduce speed in a controlled manner, and assess traffic and a safe return point before re-entering. Avoid sudden hard braking.

    Source: Georgia DDS Driver's Manual 2023-2024, printed p. 39: Section 8, Leaving the Roadway · page 40

  8. 8. A — Increase it to allow more time and room to respond.

Leave more space in poor conditions. The gap must allow you to respond and stop safely if the vehicle ahead slows or stops; sound brakes alone do not remove the effects of visibility and traction.

    Source: Georgia DDS Driver's Manual 2023-2024, printed p. 40: Section 8, Following Too Closely · page 41

  9. 9. C — The rider may be avoiding a surface hazard you barely notice.

Potholes, seams, gravel, and other surface conditions can pose greater difficulty for a motorcycle than for a car. Allow room for the rider to adjust speed or position without assuming a turn or an invitation to pass alongside.

Source: Georgia DDS Driver's Manual 2023-2024, printed p. 43: Section 9, Sharing the Road With Motorcycles - Road Conditions · page 44

  10. 10. B — A series of curves along the road ahead.

This winding-road warning calls attention to a series of curves ahead. It does not direct you to turn at an intersection or set a numerical speed limit.

    Source: Georgia DDS Driver's Manual 2023-2024, Section 7, printed p. 30: Warning Signs - Winding Road · page 31

Image credit: FHWA MUTCD 2009, fig2c_01, W1-5; official U.S. government sign illustration.

  11. 11. D — Slow down and look for traffic signals ahead.

The sign warns of a signal-controlled intersection ahead. Its printed colored circles do not display the actual signal's current phase.

Image credit: FHWA MUTCD 2009, fig2c_06; official U.S. government sign illustration.

  12. 12. B — Stop, then proceed when pedestrians have cleared the crosswalk.

During the alternating flashing-red phase, each driver must make a full stop. Proceed when pedestrians have cleared the crosswalk and it is safe; this beacon does not require waiting for a green light.

    Source: Georgia DDS Driver's Manual 2023-2024, Section 7, printed p. 35: Pedestrian-Hybrid Beacons - Flashing Red · page 36

  13. 13. C — Vision and knowledge examinations.

The CP checklist requires passing vision and knowledge examinations. The road-skills test belongs to the later license process, not this first permit stage.

Source: Get a Learners Permit (Class CP), Visit A Customer Service Center, examination bullets; current DDS HTML reviewed September 13, 2026.

  14. 14. B — Complete the DDS eADAP teen program.

DDS offers eADAP for teens who cannot complete ADAP through high school. The separate parent course and ordinary driver education are not substitutes for the teen's completion.

Source: Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP/eADAP), opening Class D requirement, eADAP for Teen Drivers, and separate ADAP for Parents section; current DDS HTML reviewed September 13, 2026.

  15. 15. D — 18 years old.

The ordinary Class C minimum is 18. DDS separately identifies qualifying transfer and military situations, so this is not an exception-free rule for every applicant.

Source: Get a (Class C) License in Georgia, Basic Requirements, ordinary minimum age and separate transfer provision; military qualification is separately described on the Class D and Joshua's Law pages; current DDS HTML reviewed September 13, 2026.

  16. 16. C — The other driver, who stopped before you

At an all-way stop, arrival order applies when the vehicles did not arrive together. The right-side tie rule does not let a later arrival take an earlier driver's turn.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 17 (physical 18), Laws Governing Right-of-Way / four-way stops. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/section-5-continued. · page 18

  17. 17. B — Move into the left lane to leave space beside the patrol car

Georgia's move-over guidance calls for a safe, lawful move into a lane not adjacent to the stopped emergency vehicle. This scenario is different from pulling over for an emergency vehicle approaching from behind.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 18 (physical 19), The Move Over Law. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://www.gahighwaysafety.org/move-over-law/. · page 19

  18. 18. C — Stay behind until you can verify a safe, lawful passing opportunity

Do not pass where a hill prevents you from seeing oncoming vehicles that could create a hazard. Not seeing a vehicle behind the crest does not establish a clear passing path.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 19 (physical 20), Passing is prohibited on two-lane roads / hills and curves (begins physical 19). Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/section-5-continued. · page 20

  19. 19. B — No, you must find a place where parking is allowed

Parking on the street side of an already parked vehicle is prohibited. Hazard lights or a short errand do not turn that double-parking location into a lawful parking space.

Source: Georgia DDS Drivers' Manual 2023-2024, Section 5, printed 20 (physical 21), Stopping, Standing, and Parking / street side of a parked vehicle. Current official HTML corroboration accessed 2026-09-13: https://dds.georgia.gov/section-5-turning-signals-parallel-parking. · page 21

  20. 20. A — Before you begin moving the vehicle.

Adjust the seat and mirrors before driving. You need a clear view and suitable driving position before you move into traffic, not while trying to steer through it.
