    1. A.No; the drive test is still required for that route.
    2. B.Yes; any signed practice log replaces a drive test.
    3. C.Yes, if all practice was during daylight.
    4. D.No, but only applicants over 18 need a drive test.

    My answer:

Nebraska · 20-question sample · Mark one correct answer for each question.

  1. 1. C — Class O.

Nebraska calls its ordinary operator credential Class O. A motorcycle or qualifying commercial vehicle requires the appropriate separate authorization.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Driver’s License (Class O), credential scope; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  2. 2. A — On or after the 15th birthday.

Testing may begin within 60 days before the birthday, but early testing does not authorize early LPD issuance. This is the ordinary LPD, not a separate school-permit route.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Learner’s Permit (LPD), Minimum Age; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  3. 3. D — No; the beside-the-learner licensed supervisor must be at least 21.

The LPD requires a licensed operator at least 21 seated beside an ordinary car learner. Motorcycle visual supervision is a different provision.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,123, subsection (3)(a)(i); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  4. 4. B — Twelve months.

The one-year validity period is distinct from the six-month permit-holding requirement for POP eligibility. Do not continue driving on an expired permit.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,123, subsection (2); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  5. 5. B — Do not use the interactive wireless device while operating the vehicle.

The LPD rule covers any type of interactive wireless communication device. A hands-free setup does not remove that learner restriction.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,123, subsection (3)(b); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  6. 6. D — On or after the 16th birthday.

Some application and testing steps can occur early, but the POP itself cannot be issued before age 16.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Provisional Operator’s Permit, Minimum Age; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  7. 7. A — A qualifying permit held at least six months, with fewer than three points accumulated in the preceding six months.

Both time and the specified point limit matter. Completing the practice requirement does not waive either condition.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,120.01, subsection (1)(b)(i)–(ii); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  8. 8. C — An approved driver safety course, or a 50-hour supervised-driving certification including at least 10 nighttime hours.

The certification route requires actual lawful practice and the designated signer. Course and log routes have different testing consequences.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,120.01, subsection (2)(a)–(b); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  9. 9. C — The written and drive tests.

The current POP page specifically identifies the written and drive test waiver. A course does not remove all other application requirements.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Provisional Operator’s Permit, Testing item 1; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  10. 10. A — No; the drive test is still required for that route.

The certification route requires vision and drive tests. An eligible existing LPD can waive the written exam, not the drive test in this scenario.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Provisional Operator’s Permit, Testing item 2; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  11. 11. D — 6 a.m. to midnight.

Nebraska’s ordinary window differs from other states. The law separately permits specified employment or school-activity travel and qualified accompanied driving.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,120.01, subsection (3)(a); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  12. 12. B — Travel between home and employment is a specified exception.

The exception is tied to the stated purpose, not general permission for nighttime recreation.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,120.01, subsection (3)(a); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  13. 13. B — No more than one passenger under 19 who is not an immediate family member.

An 18-year-old friend is still under 19. Seat capacity does not remove the first-six-month passenger restriction.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,120.01, subsection (3)(b); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  14. 14. D — No; the POP also prohibits interactive wireless-device use while operating on the highways.

The POP has its own interactive-device restriction. Progressing from LPD to POP does not remove it.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-4,120.01, subsection (3)(c); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  15. 15. A — No; all persons transported by a POP holder must use the vehicle’s occupant protection system.

The POP occupant-protection rule is not limited to young passengers or the front row.

Source: Nebraska Revised Statute §60-6,267, subsection (8); current official text reviewed September 29, 2026.

  16. 16. C — On the holder’s 18th birthday.

Arrange the appropriate operator credential rather than assuming the POP remains valid indefinitely.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Provisional Operator’s Permit, Expiration; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  17. 17. C — At least 12 months holding the POP and fewer than three points in the preceding 12 months.

The under-18 progression rule requires both the 12-month POP history and the specified point record.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Driver’s License (Class O), Testing—Individuals under 18; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  18. 18. A — Within 30 days.

A valid previous license does not authorize indefinite resident driving on that credential. Other transfer requirements still apply.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Driver’s License (Class O), Who Must Have a Nebraska License; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  19. 19. D — Vision, written and drive tests.

The adult first-time route does not remove testing. A qualifying earlier learner permit can affect the written test, but this applicant has none.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Driver’s License (Class O), Testing—Individuals over 18; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.

  20. 20. B — Both written and drive tests.

The current agency page distinguishes a license more than one year expired from a shorter expiration. Other application requirements still apply.

Source: Nebraska DMV, Driver’s License (Class O), Testing—out-of-state license more than one year expired; current official page reviewed September 29, 2026.
