No Bicycles sign
What does it mean?
The crossed-out bicycle prohibits bicycle traffic on the signed roadway or facility. It is an exclusion sign, so it should not be mistaken for a warning that bicyclists may be nearby.
What to do when you see it
- Do not ride into the restricted section.
- Choose a lawful alternate bicycle route.
- Check separate pedestrian signs if considering walking; this symbol alone does not settle all pedestrian-access rules.
How to recognize it
- Black bicycle symbol.
- Red circle and diagonal slash.
- White square background.
On the road
A bicycle route brings you to a ramp carrying the crossed-out bicycle symbol. Stay out of that restricted segment and follow an alternate legal route.
Don’t confuse it with
Bicycle crossing sign
A yellow bicycle warning alerts drivers to bicycle activity; the red slash prohibits bicycle traffic.

Do Not Enter sign
DO NOT ENTER prohibits entry from the signed direction; No Bicycles names a particular road-user type.
