Read the official PDFCheck the Stage I supervision rules, Stage II restrictions, practice verification and Stage III requirements. We use ALEA's current dedicated page for these questions where its guidance differs from the manual.
Read ALEA's GDL requirementsABS technique depends on the vehicle's equipment. Our ABS question uses NHTSA guidance rather than applying the manual's generic brake-pumping advice to an ABS-equipped car. Our flood question uses National Weather Service guidance.
Read Alabama's current seat-belt and child-restraint provisions. NHTSA guidance adds size-based seat selection and proper belt fit; those safety recommendations are labeled separately from state legal requirements.
The Move Over Act distinguishes a safe lane change on a multilane highway from the clearance and reduced-speed rules on a two-lane road. Our questions use ALEA's statutory text including the 2024 amendment.
Read the current Move Over ActThese references distinguish Alabama's legal provisions from national safety guidance. The SR-31 form is for qualifying uncompensated losses involving an uninsured motorist, not every collision. Vehicle-fire and railroad-emergency questions use current responder guidance.
Weather, tires and exhaust safety need more than memorizing a speed limit. These references support the extra safety questions. The California DMV link is used only for general stuck-accelerator handling, not for Alabama licensing or traffic-law requirements.
Our rider-skills questions use the MSF Motorcycle Operator Manual, 18th edition. This is not the ALEA motorcycle manual. A separate 26-question supplement covers selected Alabama licensing, helmet, insurance and course-provider requirements; ordinary qualification details and specialized state rider laws remain incomplete. Topic practice also includes 3 ALEA safety scenarios, separate from the MSF numbered tests. See the rider page for sources and exact coverage limits.
Rider questions and source detailsThe initial 60-question commercial-vehicle question set uses 11 FMCSA guidance pages on driving, inspection and cargo securement. These are separate from the Alabama driver manual and do not establish Alabama licensing procedures or intrastate exceptions. Another 40 air-brake questions use the ALEA-linked CDL manual and modernized supplement; the air-brake page explains the source versions. A further 40 combination-vehicle scenarios cite section 6 of the main CDL manual and distinguish general equipment knowledge from the modernized skills exam. Tank and doubles/triples practice adds 20 questions each from sections 8 and 7. Passenger practice adds 40 questions using section 4 and FMCSA motorcoach and railroad guidance; briefing recommendations are not presented as Alabama-specific laws. School-bus practice adds 60 records checked against section 10, with explicit state and district procedure boundaries. A further 80 hazardous-materials questions cite current federal regulations and PHMSA guidance on shipping papers, training, emergency information, placards, transport safety and selected incident-reporting scenarios. Another 41 licensing questions use current federal rules and ALEA pages for classes, learner permits, restrictions, training and selected state procedures; one added scenario uses the ALEA-linked CDL manual's interstate-cargo classification. These are knowledge exercises, not Alabama endorsement or route authorization. This is not a complete CDL course.
CDL questions and source detailsExisting rule-source review dates remain September 21, 2026. Four selected rider-manual decisions and one CDL commerce decision were checked September 29, 2026. Two further rider requirements on restricted-cycle weight and wheel brakes were checked October 5, 2026; distractor wording was also improved without changing existing correct answers. Sign exercises retain their original FHWA illustration credits and review dates. Random-test lengths and score targets are study settings.
