  1. A broken white line separates your lane from the lane beside it. What does that marking allow when traffic conditions are safe?

Correct answer: A lane change after checking traffic and signaling

Broken white lines separate traffic moving in the same direction. The marking permits crossing, but the driver must still make a safe lane change.

  2. You want to change lanes where two solid white lines separate the lanes. What should you do?

Correct answer: Continue to a location where crossing is permitted

Double solid white lines prohibit crossing. An available gap does not remove the marking restriction.

  3. The center marking has one solid yellow line and one broken yellow line. The broken line is on your side. What does it mean?

Correct answer: You may pass when the road ahead and other rules permit

The line nearest your lane controls passing from your direction. Check sight distance and oncoming traffic before considering a pass.

  4. Double solid yellow lines separate opposing traffic. No sign prohibits a left turn into your driveway. May you cross the lines to make that turn?

Correct answer: Yes, if the turn can be made safely and briefly

Florida allows a safe, brief crossing for a left turn into or from a driveway. This does not authorize passing another motor vehicle.

  5. You face a stop sign, and a marked stop line is several feet before the crosswalk. Where should your first complete stop occur?

Correct answer: Before any part of your vehicle crosses the stop line

Use the marked stop line even when it is set back. After stopping, continue only when observation and yielding make movement safe.

  6. Your lane shows a curved left arrow with the word ONLY. You decide you would rather continue straight. What should you do if a safe legal lane change is no longer possible?

Correct answer: Make the required left turn and adjust your route

Lane-use markings direct the permitted movement. A late route change does not excuse continuing straight from a turn-only lane.

  7. A shared center lane contains left-turn arrows for both directions. How may you use it?

Correct answer: To prepare for a left turn, while watching opposing users

The shared center lane serves left turns from either direction. It is not an extra through lane or passing lane.

  8. A lane has a bicycle symbol beneath two chevrons, often called a sharrow. What should a driver understand?

Correct answer: Bicyclists may use the travel lane

Sharrows identify shared lane use. They differ from the solid-line separation of an exclusive bicycle lane.

  9. Red reflectors on the edge lines face you as you enter a highway ramp. What should you recognize?

Correct answer: You are entering the ramp in the wrong direction

Red reflectors facing the driver warn of wrong-way travel. Pull over immediately and correct direction when it is safe.

Source: Official Florida Driver License Handbook rev. 08/2023, printed page 69, physical PDF page 77: Wrong-way reflectors ↗

  10. An intersection signal flashes red, and no officer is directing traffic. How should you proceed?

Correct answer: Stop completely, then yield and go when safe

A flashing red signal requires the same stop-and-yield procedure as a stop sign.

Source: Official Florida Driver License Handbook rev. 08/2023, printed page 52, physical PDF page 60: Flashing red signal; current F.S. 316.076 (1)(a) also checked ↗

  11. You face a flashing yellow left arrow while an approaching car continues toward the intersection. What does your arrow require?

Correct answer: Yield and turn only when there is a safe gap

The arrow allows a turn after yielding. Oncoming traffic may have a green signal, so the turn is not protected.

Source: Official Florida Driver License Handbook rev. 08/2023, printed page 52, physical PDF page 60: Flashing yellow arrow ↗

  12. Your light turns green while a pedestrian is still lawfully crossing in front of you. What should you do?

Correct answer: Wait for the pedestrian to clear your path

Green permits movement when safe. It does not remove your duty to yield to people lawfully in the crosswalk.

Source: Official Florida Driver License Handbook rev. 08/2023, printed page 51, physical PDF page 59: Green signal and yielding; current F.S. 316.075 (1)(a)1 also checked ↗
