  1. You are legally allowed to carry a passenger on a two-wheel motorcycle. What equipment should the passenger have?

Correct answer: A suitable seat, passenger footrests and a secure place to hold.

The motorcycle must be designed and equipped to accommodate the passenger without crowding the rider or interfering with control. A luggage rack is not a passenger seat.

  2. Your passenger says they have ridden motorcycles before. Should you still explain how to ride with you?

Correct answer: Yes; review mounting, holding, foot position and behavior before leaving.

Prior experience does not establish that a passenger knows your motorcycle or the needed coordination. Review the basics before the trip, while you can both concentrate on the instructions.

  3. With an allowed passenger aboard, what adjustment should you make before approaching a stop?

Correct answer: Begin slowing earlier and maintain a larger space cushion.

Added weight changes the motorcycle’s response. Allow more room and time instead of assuming familiar solo-riding stopping distances still apply.

  4. Why should a rider carrying a passenger wait for a larger gap before entering traffic?

Correct answer: The added weight can make acceleration and maneuvering slower.

Plan for the loaded motorcycle’s response, not its solo performance. A larger gap gives more margin to cross, enter or merge without forcing others to react.
