Oregon · 20-question sample · Mark one correct answer for each question.
1. A — Noncommercial Class C.
Oregon's ordinary passenger-car driving privilege is noncommercial Class C. Commercial and motorcycle qualifications are separate.
2. B — 15.
The ordinary Class C instruction-permit minimum is 15. It is a supervised driving privilege, not permission to drive alone.
3. C — At least 16 years old and an instruction permit held at least six months.
Oregon's provisional route requires age 16 or 17 and at least six months with an instruction permit. Required practice and testing must also be completed.
4. D — A validly licensed driver at least 21 seated beside the learner.
The supervisor must have a valid license, be at least 21 and sit beside the permit holder. Practice-hour credit has an additional experience requirement.
Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Important Details — Driving Restrictions. Reviewed September 29, 2026.
5. A — 100 hours without the approved course, or 50 hours with it.
Oregon requires 100 hours of supervised experience, reduced to 50 when the applicant has taken and passed an approved driver-education course.
6. B — No; credited practice requires a supervisor licensed for at least three years.
The rule for credit is stricter than the basic accompanying-driver rule: the supervisor must be at least 21 and have held valid driving privileges for at least three years.
7. C — No; non-immediate-family passengers under 20 are prohibited in the first six months.
During the first six months, the provisional driver may not carry a passenger under 20 who is not immediate family, unless a listed supervised-driving exception applies.
8. D — Three.
During the second six months, no more than three non-immediate-family passengers under 20 may ride. Safe seating and restraints still apply.
Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Driving Restrictions — Second 6 Months. Reviewed September 29, 2026.
9. A — No; an immediate-family member is outside that passenger restriction.
The restriction distinguishes immediate family from other passengers under 20. Other rules, including hours and restraints, still apply.
10. B — Midnight to 5 a.m.
The normal provisional nighttime restriction is midnight to 5 a.m. Listed work, school-transport and qualifying-supervisor exceptions are separate.
11. C — Yes; travel between home and work is a listed exception.
Travel between home and work is expressly excepted. The exception does not make unrelated nighttime trips permissible.
12. D — At least 25.
The nighttime exception requires a licensed driver at least 25. Do not confuse that with the instruction permit's minimum supervisor age of 21.
13. A — At age 18 or after one year holding the provisional license, whichever occurs first.
These two restrictions end at 18 or after one year, whichever comes first. The under-18 mobile-device rule remains age-based.
Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Driving Restrictions — Note on duration. Reviewed September 29, 2026.
14. B — No; the under-18 rule also prohibits hands-free use.
The ordinary under-18 mobile-device restriction includes hands-free use. Ending the first-year passenger limits does not create an adult phone exception.
15. C — An instruction permit with the required supervision.
The adult licensing page lists an instruction permit as optional before direct testing, but requires one if the applicant wants to practice driving beforehand.
16. D — Corrective lenses must be worn while driving.
When corrective lenses are used to pass the test, the driving privilege indicates they are required.
17. A — Within 30 days.
Oregon DMV requires address notification within 30 days. A new physical card is not automatically required just because the address changed.
18. B — Within 30 days of becoming a resident.
The new-resident guidance requires an Oregon driver license within 30 days for a resident who wants to drive. Visitor rules are different.
Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, New to Oregon — Welcome. Reviewed September 29, 2026.
19. C — The test must be rescheduled until the required proof is available.
The DMV drive test requires a properly registered passenger vehicle and valid insurance proof. Missing proof requires rescheduling.
20. D — $25,000 / $50,000 / $20,000.
Oregon's listed minimum liability limits are 25/50/20. Personal injury protection and uninsured-motorist requirements are additional, not replaced by these limits.
