    Correct answer: 15.

The ordinary Class C instruction-permit minimum is 15. It is a supervised driving privilege, not permission to drive alone.

Correct answer: At least 16 years old and an instruction permit held at least six months.

  4. Who must accompany an Oregon provisional instruction-permit holder during ordinary practice in a car?

  5. How does an approved driver-education course change Oregon's supervised-practice requirement for a first provisional license?

Correct answer: 100 hours without the approved course, or 50 hours with it.

Oregon requires 100 hours of supervised experience, reduced to 50 when the applicant has taken and passed an approved driver-education course.

  6. A licensed 21-year-old sits beside a teen learner but has held a license for only one year. Will those hours count toward Oregon's provisional-license practice total?

Correct answer: No; credited practice requires a supervisor licensed for at least three years.

The rule for credit is stricter than the basic accompanying-driver rule: the supervisor must be at least 21 and have held valid driving privileges for at least three years.

During the first six months, the provisional driver may not carry a passenger under 20 who is not immediate family, unless a listed supervised-driving exception applies.

  8. A 16-year-old is in month eight of an Oregon provisional license, with no qualifying parent or instructor present. What is the maximum number of non-immediate-family passengers under 20?

Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Driving Restrictions — Second 6 Months. Reviewed September 29, 2026. ↗

  9. During the first six months of an Oregon provisional license, a teen drives with only a younger sibling as passenger. Does the under-20 non-family passenger restriction itself prohibit that trip?

Correct answer: No; an immediate-family member is outside that passenger restriction.

The restriction distinguishes immediate family from other passengers under 20. Other rules, including hours and restraints, still apply.

  10. An Oregon provisional driver is in the first year, still under 18, and has no qualifying exception. Which period is restricted?

Correct answer: Yes; travel between home and work is a listed exception.

Travel between home and work is expressly excepted. The exception does not make unrelated nighttime trips permissible.

Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Driving Restrictions — driving between home and work. Reviewed September 29, 2026. ↗

  12. For an Oregon provisional driver's nighttime restriction, what age must a licensed accompanying driver have to meet the listed adult-supervision exception?

    Correct answer: At least 25.

The nighttime exception requires a licensed driver at least 25. Do not confuse that with the instruction permit's minimum supervisor age of 21.

Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Driving Restrictions — accompanied by a licensed driver at least 25. Reviewed September 29, 2026. ↗

  13. When do Oregon's provisional passenger and nighttime restrictions end?

Correct answer: At age 18 or after one year holding the provisional license, whichever occurs first.

These two restrictions end at 18 or after one year, whichever comes first. The under-18 mobile-device rule remains age-based.

Source: Oregon DMV current guidance, Driving Restrictions — Note on duration. Reviewed September 29, 2026. ↗

  14. A 17-year-old Oregon driver wants to make a routine call using a hands-free phone accessory. There is no emergency. Does hands-free operation make it lawful?

Correct answer: No; the under-18 rule also prohibits hands-free use.

The ordinary under-18 mobile-device restriction includes hands-free use. Ending the first-year passenger limits does not create an adult phone exception.

  15. An adult applying for a first Oregon license plans to practice on public roads before the drive test. What is required even though the adult may choose a direct-testing route?

  16. You pass Oregon's vision test while wearing prescription glasses. What condition is placed on your driving privilege?

Correct answer: Corrective lenses must be worn while driving.

When corrective lenses are used to pass the test, the driving privilege indicates they are required.

  17. After changing your address, how soon must you notify Oregon DMV?

    Correct answer: Within 30 days.

    Correct answer: $25,000 / $50,000 / $20,000.

Oregon's listed minimum liability limits are 25/50/20. Personal injury protection and uninsured-motorist requirements are additional, not replaced by these limits.

What is the minimum age for an Oregon instruction permit?

Oregon's minimum instruction-permit age is 15. Applicants ages 15 through 17 use the provisional permit process, including parent or legal-guardian permission. A provisional permit lets you learn with the required supervision; it is not the same as qualifying for a provisional driver license.
