Rhode Island teen licensing and restrictions: sources and limits

9 original questions with explanations and saved review. Selected under-18 permit and provisional-license requirements, progression and restrictions. Adult permit authority is not inferred from these teen rules.

Read each question’s conditions carefully. Requirements can differ by age, license and vehicle use. How we built this practice.

How we built this practice

The Rhode Island DMV New License Permits page showed an August 21, 2026 update. The recovered under-18 paragraphs include the displayed night-driving and passenger exceptions; they are not a complete reconciliation of every Rhode Island statute.

The underlying agency paragraphs were read on September 29, 2026. Their retained text was recovered and these original questions reviewed on October 1, 2026; recovery is not a new primary-source fetch or confirmation of amendments since that earlier read. Question-level section references keep that distinction internally.

What is not covered

Adult temporary-permit authority is covered in the separate adult-permit study, not by these under-18 questions. These questions do not supply every supervisor qualification, application document, exception or local traffic law. Preserve the stated night-driving, passenger and progression conditions; general driving ability does not remove them.

Practice and saved mistakes

The full and shuffled views reuse the same 9 questions. Separate technical numbered sets and mixed practice selections stay unchanged. My mistakes adds this local topic to the same CAR history, without mixing other vehicles or states.
