How we built this practice
96 original road-rule and safe-driving questions plus 32 national sign-recognition questions. Road answers are based on the corresponding BMV manual sections. Pictured signs retain their FHWA references and illustration credits. These records are reused across practice modes, not counted again for each page.
The separate 48-question licensing supplement adds permit eligibility, supervision, probationary restrictions and selected application and test-day duties. The 132-question motorcycle section uses its own rider sources and review. The 600-question CDL section adds licensing, driving safety, cargo, air brakes, combination vehicles, passenger buses, tanks, doubles/triples, school buses, hazardous materials and skills preparation. Deeper licensing and endorsement exceptions remain unfinished; written skills preparation does not replace hands-on training. Read the full handbook alongside these questions.
The 32-question responsibilities supplement and its official sources cover liability minimums, COC versus SR22, reinstatement, DSP credit, driver records and credential changes. It does not award DSP credit, determine personal eligibility or replace a court order. These questions also stay outside the road-and-sign sampler.
Licensing answers use current BMV web requirements, including the age-16 driver-education route, the daylight-only practice exception and the different rehabilitation rules for teens and adults. The supplement does not enter the road-and-sign sampler.

The downloaded 84-page manual has June 2026 file metadata; September 14 is our review date, not a claim of a new September edition. BMV notes that its electronic manual is the latest version.
The BMV knowledge-exam page provides current test instructions. Learner permit knowledge examination: The question count is not confirmed in the reviewed agency sources. Agency passing statement: 80 percent in each component. Road signs and traffic maneuvers/rules components must each meet the published 80% requirement. Age 15 requires enrollment in approved behind-the-wheel training; without driver education the minimum is 16. Current operational page and current manual publish 80% for each component but no exact section counts were verified. Older official manual describes 16 signs plus 34 rules and at most two/six misses. Those historical counts are not substituted for current policy. Thirty minutes before closing is an arrival cutoff, not an exam timer. ASL assistance is available by arrangement. Check the selected practice settings before starting; full test explanations appear after submission and optional timer settings are available.
