New Mexico / School-bus basics

New Mexico school-bus sources and coverage

53 original school-bus knowledge questions, with explanations after each answer. Choose a short test or focus on a topic.

Partial school-bus basics. Common car skills and national signs and Common rider skills are also available separately. 84 common CDL technical questions are also available; selected local qualification questions are offered separately. This is not a complete CDL course, an official full test, or practical driver certification.

How we built this practice

The New Mexico PED School Bus Driver Instructor Manual is a 304-page pre-service training curriculum. Its cover identifies May 2018, version 2.0; individual sections have later revisions. A 2025 upload path does not mean every passage was revised in 2025.

This practice uses selected vehicle-inspection guidance in section 1-C (August 2023 revision), safety equipment and evacuation guidance in section 1-J, mirror guidance in section 1-M (2022), and selected maneuvering and driving guidance in sections 1-N (August 2023) and 1-O (2022). Exact section and physical-PDF-page locators are retained internally for each question.

The questions are original text-based scenarios, not the curriculum’s comprehension test. They do not reproduce its illustrations. The downloadable source was checked October 1, 2026; this does not establish that every older operating passage is current licensing law.

What this release does not cover

Current license and endorsement eligibility, age and permit exceptions, complete CDL technical subjects, legal distance or equipment thresholds, prescribed brake-test sequences, first aid certification, district-specific policy, or the curriculum’s externally supplied courses. No practical competence, ELDT completion or official test result is certified here.

Practice settings and progress

53 records are shared across numbered sets, topic pages and shuffled practice. They are not counted again each time they appear. Practice is untimed, generally in sessions of 20 or fewer; the 80% learning target is editorial. The shared CDL review offers both this school-bus practice and the separate common technical subjects, while leaving other states’ and vehicles’ records intact.

More CDL technical subjects

84 additional common-knowledge questions cover general driving and cargo, air brakes, combinations, double trailers, tanks, passenger vehicles, school buses and hazardous-materials safety. They retain a separate older Iowa source; current state qualification rules are not supplied. Your existing school-bus sets and progress stay unchanged, with both technical practice sets and the separate local qualification set available in My CDL mistakes.

Selected New Mexico CDL qualifications

5 local questions on underlying credentials, same-class transfers, HazMat requirements, the ordinary testing path and qualified medical examiners. These do not establish every eligibility, learner or medical-reporting requirement.

Practice selected CDL qualifications

Federal CDL medical categories

4 questions. Distinguish federal self-certification categories and continuing non-excepted interstate medical qualification. These four original federal questions are reused in this state placement, not counted as four new national concepts.

Qualified CDL learner supervision

1 questions. Practice the federal accompanying-driver requirements for otherwise lawful CLP training in an ordinary truck. The supervisor needs the matching commercial authority, the required physical position and direct supervision.

More about these sources

Independent knowledge practice based on selected New Mexico Public Education Department training passages. The source has a May 2018 cover with individually revised 2022 and 2023 operating sections, not a verified current MVD licensing manual. No copied official test questions or diagram-dependent questions are included. Read the complete guidance and follow qualified instruction and your employer’s procedures; quizzes do not replace hands-on training.
