Study for your vehicle and license
Choose a short test, the full subject question set or a fresh 20-question mix. Each question has three choices, as described in NY CDL-10 section 1.4.1. These views reuse the same questions. Random practice tests are untimed practice with feedback, not a claim about the official test length or question selection.
The DMV core study plan includes sections 1, 2, 3, 11, 12 and 13. Our General Knowledge question set focuses on sections 2 and 3. Also use Licensing & CLP and Inspection & Skills Study, alongside the official inspection, basic-control and road-test chapters. Additional subjects depend on the vehicle and endorsements you need.
Read the full New York CDL manual and complete the training and supervised skills practice that apply to you. This practice does not replace required training, endorsement applications or the full hands-on skills curriculum. Licensing & CLP, Inspection & Skills Study and Driver Fitness are whole-question set supplements, not separate endorsement exams. A quiz cannot replace vehicle inspection demonstrations or supervised driving.
Each explanation identifies its actual handbook chapter or current rule. Chapter editions differ: introduction February 2026; the other CDL-10 chapters used here November 2025. Metal-coil study uses MV-79 (December 2024), whose internal load-limit table has its own revision. Current regulations take priority where the handbook is outdated, including New York school-bus crossing distance. Check current NY DMV application requirements before applying.
