Straight or Left Turn sign
What does it mean?
The two arrowheads show that the controlled lane supports either a through movement or a left turn. Choose the movement you need while still obeying the signal and any applicable yielding rules.
What to do when you see it
- Match the sign to the lane it controls.
- Signal if you plan to turn left.
- Check for conflicting road users before completing the selected movement.
How to recognize it
- One black arrow shaft splitting into two arrowheads.
- One arrow points upward and the other curves left.
- White rectangular background without ONLY.
On the road
At an intersection, your lane's sign branches straight and left. You may continue straight while another driver using that lane on a later signal chooses the left turn.
Don’t confuse it with

Left Turn Only sign
Left Turn Only gives the lane a mandatory turn; the branched arrow includes the straight option.

Through Only sign
Through Only has a single straight arrow and excludes the left-turn option shown here.
