Two-way traffic
What does it mean?
Traffic travels in both directions on the roadway ahead or along the section being marked. The opposing arrows remind you that a nearby lane may carry oncoming vehicles rather than traffic moving with you.
What to do when you see it
- Keep to your side of the roadway and follow the centerline.
- Look for approaching vehicles before any permitted maneuver across the centerline.
- Watch for a transition from one-way or divided-road operation.
How to recognize it
- Yellow diamond with two straight black arrows.
- One arrow points up and the other points down.
On the road
You leave a one-way section and see this warning before an undivided road. You remain in the right-hand lane because the lane to the left now carries oncoming traffic.
Don’t confuse it with

Divided Highway Ends Sign
Divided Highway Ends also shows the median that is ending; Two-Way Traffic has no median shape.

Added lane
Added Lane has two arrows traveling in the same direction.
