  1. On an undivided road, outside any controlled-access-highway loading zone, a properly marked and equipped school bus has stopped to receive schoolchildren and its red signal lights are flashing. What must you do when meeting or overtaking it?

Correct answer: Stop immediately and remain stationary while the flashing red lights operate.

The school-bus provision requires an immediate stop and keeping the vehicle stationary while the red signal lights operate. The undivided road excludes the different-roadway exception, and the stem separately excludes a controlled-access-highway loading zone.

  2. A school bus is stopped on the other roadway of a divided highway, across a median from your roadway. Does the bus-stopping provision require you to stop for a bus on that different roadway?

Correct answer: No. The provision has an exception for a bus on a different roadway of a highway with separate roadways.

The exception concerns a highway with separate roadways and a school bus on a different roadway. It is not a general exemption for all multilane roads and is distinct from the controlled-access loading-zone exception.
