One lane bridge
What does it mean?
The bridge ahead has only one usable traffic lane. On a two-way road, vehicles from opposing directions may need to take turns; the warning alone does not grant either approach priority.
What to do when you see it
- Look for STOP, YIELD, signals, or other directions before the bridge.
- Check for vehicles already on or approaching the crossing.
- Enter only when you can travel through safely without conflicting with opposing traffic.
How to recognize it
- Yellow diamond.
- Black ONE LANE BRIDGE lettering.
On the road
An oncoming car is already crossing a one-lane bridge. You wait at a safe place before the bridge and proceed when the crossing is clear and its controls permit.
Don’t confuse it with

Narrow bridge
Narrow Bridge warns of restricted width but does not necessarily mean the bridge has just one lane.

Lane ends
Lane Ends describes a lane reduction on the roadway rather than a one-lane bridge crossing.
